The Standing Committee on Finance met in a televised session at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Vice-Chair, Nathan Cullen, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Mark Adler, Mike Allen, Hon. Scott Brison, Guy Caron, Nathan Cullen, Gerald Keddy, Murray Rankin and Dave Van Kesteren.

 

Acting Members present: Chungsen Leung for Andrew Saxton and Bev Shipley for Andrew Saxton.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Mark Mahabir, Analyst; Michaël Lambert-Racine, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Amalgamated Transit Union: Michael Mahar, Director, Canadian Council. Canadian Parks and Recreation Association: Jennifer Reynolds, Past President, Director, Community Services, Town of Milton. Canadian Urban Transit Association: Michael Roschlau, President and Chief Executive Officer. Merit Canada: Domenic Mattina, Chairman. Mowat Centre: Sunil Johal, Policy Director, University of Toronto. As an individual: Marcelin Joanis, Associate Professor, Department of Mathematical and Industrial Engineering, Polytechnique Montréal. Canadian Climate Forum: Catherine Cobden, Member, Board of Directors, Executive Vice-President, Forest Products Association of Canada. Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities: Ray Orb, Vice-President. Tourism Industry Association of Canada: David McKenna, Member, President, Brewster Travel Canada.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 83.1, the Committee resumed its pre-budget consultations 2014.
 

Michael Mahar, Jennifer Reynolds, Michael Roschlau, Domenic Mattina and Sunil Johal made statements and answered questions.

 

At 4:49 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:00 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Marcelin Joanis, Catherine Cobden, Ray Orb and David McKenna made statements and answered questions.

 

At 6:08 p.m., Dave Van Kesteren took the Chair.

 

At 6:15 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
