The Standing Committee on Finance met in a televised session at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, James Rajotte, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Mark Adler, Mike Allen, Hon. Scott Brison, Guy Caron, Gerald Keddy, James Rajotte, Murray Rankin, Andrew Saxton and Dave Van Kesteren.

Acting Members present: Libby Davies for Nathan Cullen.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Michaël Lambert-Racine, Analyst ; Mark Mahabir, Analyst.

Witnesses: Canadian Doctors for Medicare: Richard Klasa, Board Member. Canadian Foundation for Healthcare Improvement: Maureen O'Neil, President. Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada: David Sculthorpe, Chief Executive Officer. Hope Air: Douglas Keller-Hobson, Executive Director. Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre: Barry McLellan, President and Chief Executive Officer. Assembly of First Nations: Ghislain Picard, National Chief; William Traverse, Manitoba Regional Chief. Canadian Federation of Students: Jessica McCormick, National Chairperson. Centre for Drug Research and Development: Kathryn Hayashi, Chief Financial Officer. Pursuant to Standing Order 83.1, the Committee resumed its pre-budget consultations 2014.

Richard Klasa, Maureen O'Neil, David Sculthorpe, Douglas Keller-Hobson and Barry McLellan made statements and answered questions.

At 4:39 p.m., Scott Brison took the Chair.

At 4:46 p.m., James Rajotte took the Chair.

At 5:01 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:08 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Ghislain Picard, William Traverse, Jessica McCormick, Kathryn Hayashi, Bill Rogers and Michael J.L. Kirby made statements and answered questions.

At 6:02 p.m., Scott Brison took the Chair.

At 6:09 p.m., James Rajotte took the Chair.

At 6:30 p.m., by unanimous consent and pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the Committee continue to sit.

At 6:36 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
