The Standing Committee on Finance met at 3:31 this day, in Room 228, La Promenade Building, the Chair, James Rajotte, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Mike Allen, Gerald Keddy, James Rajotte, Murray Rankin and Dave Van Kesteren.

 

Acting Members present: Rodger Cuzner for Hon. Scott Brison, Matthew Dubé for Guy Caron, Hon. Laurie Hawn for Andrew Saxton, Guy Lauzon for Mark Adler and Francis Scarpaleggia for Hon. Scott Brison.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: André Léonard, Analyst; Mark Mahabir, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Chamber of Commerce: Sarah Anson-Cartwright, Director, Skills Policy. Unifor: Angelo DiCaro, National Representative, Research Department, Young Workers Program Liaison. Confédération des syndicats nationaux: Jean Lortie, Corporate Secretary. Canadian Federation of Independent Business: Monique Moreau, Director, National Affairs. Merit Contractors Association: Peter Pilarski, Vice-President, Southern Alberta. Progressive Contractors Association of Canada: Sean Reid, Vice-President, Federal and Ontario.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, October 29, 2013, the Committee resumed its study of Youth Employment in Canada.
 
Sarah Anson-Cartwright made a statement.
 

At 3:37 p.m., by unanimous consent and pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the Committee continue to sit.

 

Monique Moreau, Jean Lortie, Peter Pilarski and Sean Reid made statements.

 

At 3:56 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:07 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Dave Van Kesteren took the Chair.

 

Angelo DiCaro made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 6:04 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
