The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met in camera at 8:45 a.m. this day, in Room 228, The Valour Building, the Chair, Hélène LeBlanc, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Stella Ambler, Joan Crockatt, Kirsty Duncan, Hélène LeBlanc, Tilly O'Neill Gordon, Djaouida Sellah, Susan Truppe and Terence Young.

 

Acting Members present: John Barlow for Wai Young and Dennis Bevington for Niki Ashton.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Laura Munn-Rivard, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, November 19, 2013, the Committee resumed its study of eating disorders amongst girls and women.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "Eating Disorders Among Girls and Women in Canada".

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and Analyst be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

 

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee append to its report, immediately after the signature of the Chair, dissenting and/or supplementary opinions from the NDP and Liberal parties, provided that they are no more than ten (10) pages in length and submitted electronically, in both official languages, to the Clerk of the Committee, no later than 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2014.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee defray the hospitality expenses related to the meeting with a delegation from Wales held on Wednesday, October 28, 2014.

 

It was agreed, — That the Fourth Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, which read as follows, be concurred in:

Your Subcommittee met on Tuesday, October 28, 2014, to consider the business of the Committee and agreed to make the following recommendations:

1. That the Committee meet on Tuesday, November 4, 2014, in order to resume its study of Economic Leadership and Prosperity of Canadian Women.

2. That, pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, October 1, 2014, the Committee undertake a study on the subject of best practices in education programs, social programs and policies in Canada that prevent violence against women, and report its findings to the House within one (1) year of the study’s initiation.

3. That each party provide a prioritized list of seven (7) witnesses to the Clerk no later than Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 4:00 p.m.

 

At 9:07 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
