The Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities met at 3:36 p.m. this day, in Room 228, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Merv Tweed, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dan Albas, Hon. Denis Coderre, Isabelle Morin, Jamie Nicholls, Blake Richards, Mike Sullivan, Lawrence Toet, Merv Tweed and Jeff Watson.

 

Acting Members present: Rod Bruinooge for Pierre Poilievre, Andrew Cash for Olivia Chow, Hon. Rob Merrifield for Mark Adler and José Nunez-Melo for Olivia Chow.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Allison Padova, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Metrolinx: Dina Graser, Acting Vice-President, Strategic Communications; Bruce McCuaig, President and Chief Executive Officer.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

Blake Richards moved, — That the Committee proceed to sit in camera.

 

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 6; NAYS: 5.

 

At 3:38 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 3:39 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 

The Chair presented the Second Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure which read as follows:

Your Subcommittee met on Monday, October 31, 2011, to consider the business of the Committee and agreed to make the following recommendations:

1. That the Committee invite 2 witnesses from the New Democratic Party, 2 witnesses from the Liberal Party and 2 witnesses from the Conservative Party to appear on November 14, 16 and 21, 2011, in relation to its study on the National Public Transit Strategy.

2. That the Committee invite Department Officials from Infrastructure Canada on November 23, 2011, to conclude its hearings of witnesses in relation to its study on National Public Transit Strategy.

 

It was agreed, — That the Second Report of the Subcommittee be concurred in.

 

At 3:43 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 3:46 p.m., the sitting resumed in public.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on September 26, 2011, the Committee resumed its study of the National Public Transit Strategy.
 

Bruce McCuaig made a statement and, with Dina Graser, answered questions.

 

At 5:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
