The Subcommittee on International Human Rights of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development met at 1:06 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Scott Reid, presiding.

Members of the Subcommittee present: Nina Grewal, Russ Hiebert, Wayne Marston, Ève Péclet, Scott Reid and David Sweet.

Acting Members present: Hon. Mauril Bélanger for Hon. Irwin Cotler.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Melissa Radford, Analyst ; Erin Shaw, Analyst.

Witnesses: Amnesty International: Béatrice Vaugrante, Executive Director, Canada Francophone Section. Entraide missionnaire: Denis Tougas, Coordinator, Table de concertation sur la région des Grands Lacs africains.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Subcommittee on Thursday, October 20, 2011, the Subcommittee resumed its study on the sexual violence against women used systematically as a weapon of war in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Béatrice Vaugrante and Denis Tougas made statements and answered questions.

At 2:04 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 2:05 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Subcommittee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Subcommittee business.

It was agreed, — That the Subcommittee hold a meeting on Thursday, December 15, 2011, and invite witnesses.

At 2:07 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
