The Subcommittee on Bill C-38 (Part 3) of the Standing Committee on Finance met in a televised session at 7:17 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Blaine Calkins, presiding.

Members of the Subcommittee present: Mike Allen, Stella Ambler, David Anderson, Blaine Calkins, Robert Chisholm, Kirsty Duncan, Peter Julian, Randy Kamp, Megan Anissa Leslie, Anne Minh-Thu Quach, Michelle Rempel and Brian Storseth.

Other Members present: Dennis Bevington.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Kristen E. Courtney, Analyst ; Brett Stuckey, Analyst . House of Commons: Michelle Tittley, Procedural Clerk.

Witnesses: Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters - Ontario Division: Jayson Myers, President and CEO. Building and Construction Trades Department, AFL-CIO, Canadian Office: Christopher Smillie, Senior Advisor, Government Relations and Public Affairs. Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers: David Collyer, President. Canadian Nuclear Association: Denise Carpenter, President and Chief Executive Officer. Federation of Ontario Cottagers' Associations : Terry Rees, Executive Director. Ontario Commercial Fisheries' Association: Peter Meisenheimer, Executive Director. Canadian Construction Association: Ward Prystay, Principal, Environmental Services, Stantec Consulting Ltd.. Mining Association of Canada: Pierre Gratton, President and Chief Executive Officer. Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities: Ray Orb, Vice-President.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(1)a) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, the Subcommittee commenced its study of Bill C-38, Part 3 (Responsible Resource Development).

Jayson Myers, Christopher Smillie, David Collyer, Denise Carpenter, Terry Rees and Peter Meisenheimer made statements and answered questions.

At 9:19 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:30 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Ward Prystay, Pierre Gratton, Ray Orb made statements and answered questions.

On motion of Michelle Rempel, it was agreed, — That the proposed budget in relation to the study of Bill C-38, part 3 (Responsible Resource Development), in the amount of 25 500,00 $ be adopted and that the approved budget be reported to the Standing Committee on Finance for adoption at the earliest opportunity.

At 11:25 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
