The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met at 11:00 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, David Sweet, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Peter Braid, John Carmichael, Cheryl Gallant, Dan Harris, Hon. Mike Lake, Hélène LeBlanc, Phil McColeman, Hon. Geoff Regan, David Sweet and Mike Wallace.

Acting Members present: Denis Blanchette for Glenn Thibeault and Jean Rousseau for Kennedy Stewart.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Mathieu Frigon, Analyst.

Appearing: Hon. Denis Lebel, P.C., M.P., Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec.

Witnesses: Canada Economic Development: Luce Perreault, Director General, Departmental Finances Branch; Thao Pham, Vice-President, Operations.

Pursuant to Standing Order 81(5), the Committee commenced consideration of the Supplementary Estimates (B) 2012-2013: Votes 5b and 10b under ATLANTIC CANADA OPPORTUNITIES AGENCY, Vote 5b under ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF CANADA FOR THE REGIONS OF QUEBEC, Votes 1b, 5b, 10b, 35b, 55b, 60b, 65b, 70b, 80b and 95b under INDUSTRY and Vote 5b under WESTERN ECONOMIC DIVERSIFICATION referred to the Committee on Thursday, November 8, 2012.

The Chair called Vote 5b under ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF CANADA FOR THE REGIONS OF QUEBEC.

The Minister made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 12:05 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:08 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Questioning of the witnesses resumed.

At 12:39 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
