The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met in camera at 8:48 a.m. this day, in Room 8-53, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, David Sweet, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Peter Braid, John Carmichael, Cheryl Gallant, Dan Harris, Mike Lake, Hélène LeBlanc, Brian Masse, Phil McColeman, Hon. Geoff Regan, Lee Richardson and David Sweet.

 

Acting Members present: Fin Donnelly for Kennedy Stewart.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Mathieu Frigon, Analyst; Dillan Theckedath, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

At 9:46 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:06 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

It was agreed, — That the motion adopted on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 regarding undertaking a study of the current intellectual property regime in Canada be amended by adding after the words “a study of the” the following: “effectiveness of the” and by adding after the words “role of intellectual property in” the following word: “fostering “. The motion, as amended, read as follows:

That, pursuant to Standing Order 108 (2), the Committee undertake a study of the effectiveness of the current intellectual property regime in Canada, which will include the important role of intellectual property in fostering Canadian innovation and leading edge technology.

 

At 10:32 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
