The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Ed Komarnicki, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Brad Butt, Rodger Cuzner, Joe Daniel, Carol Hughes, Ed Komarnicki, Kellie Leitch, Colin Mayes, Phil McColeman, Claude Patry, Manon Perreault and Devinder Shory.

 

Acting Members present: Lysane Blanchette-Lamothe for Jean Crowder.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Sandra Gruescu, Analyst; André Léonard, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Polytechnics Canada: Ken Doyle, Director, Policy; Nobina Robinson, Chief Executive Officer. Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada: Greg Fergus, Director, Public Affairs; Herb O'Heron, Director, Research and Policy Analysis Division. Association of Canadian Community Colleges: James Knight, President and Chief Executive Officer.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, February 15, 2012, the Committee resumed its studies of “Fixing the Skills Gap: Addressing Existing Labour Shortages in High Demand Occupations” and “Understanding Labour Shortages: Addressing Barriers to Filling Low-Skilled Jobs”.
 
 

Nobina Robinson, James Knight and Herb O'Heron made statements and, with Ken Doyle, answered questions.

 

At 5:32 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
