Your Subcommittee met on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 and Tuesday, October 2, 2012, to consider the business of the Committee and agreed to make the following recommendations:
1. That, in relation to the study on invasive species that pose a threat to the Great Lakes system, no more than one additional sitting be allocated to hear officials from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans on the recently released report on the Binational Ecological Risk Assessment of Bigheaded Carps.

3. That the draft report on the invasive species that pose a threat to the Great Lakes system be written after the analyst has received instructions from the Members of the Steering Committee following the presentation of the summary of testimonies.
4. That, on the study of the Northern and Arctic fisheries and the possibility to travel, Members should submit to the clerk the names of the cities the Committee could visit and the potential witnesses in those cities, in order to prepare a budget request for next Spring in 2013, after the two reports (Aquaculture and Invasive Species) have been presented to the House.
5. That the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans be invited to appear before the Committee, at the earliest opportunity, this fall, to mainly discuss changes to the Fisheries Act, and other related issues.
