The Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics met in a televised session at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Pierre-Luc Dusseault, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Scott Andrews, Charlie Angus, Charmaine Borg, Alexandre Boulerice, Brad Butt, John Carmichael, Patricia Davidson and Pierre-Luc Dusseault.

 

Acting Members present: Ed Komarnicki for Colin Mayes, Brent Rathgeber for Earl Dreeshen, Chris Warkentin for Dean Del Mastro and Bob Zimmer for Earl Dreeshen.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Miguel Bernal-Castillero, Analyst; Maxime-Olivier Thibodeau, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada: Jennifer Stoddart, Privacy Commissioner of Canada; Chantal Bernier, Assistant Privacy Commissioner; Daniel Nadeau, Director General and Chief Financial Officer.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Tuesday, February 25, 2013, and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2013-14: Vote 45 under JUSTICE
 

The Chair calls Vote 45 under JUSTICE.

 

Jennifer Stoddart made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

Vote 45 under JUSTICE carried.

 

At 4:29 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:33 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee undertake a study of the Bill C-461, An Act to amend the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act (disclosure of information), pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, March 27, 2013, that this study begin on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 and that a list of proposed witnesses be sent to the clerk for consideration at the meeting of Wednesday, May 22, 2013.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Monday, December 10, 2012, section 67 of the Conflict of Interest Act, and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, December 11, 2012, the Committee resumed the statutory review of the Conflict of Interest Act.
 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of a summary of evidence.
 

At 4:54 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
