The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development met at 11:02 a.m. this day, in Room 228, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Mark Warawa, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Stella Ambler, Kirsty Duncan, Megan Anissa Leslie, James Lunney, Michelle Rempel, Robert Sopuck, Lise St-Denis and Mark Warawa.

Acting Members present: Dan Albas for Lawrence Toet, Hon. Denis Coderre for Kirsty Duncan, Mylène Freeman for Laurin Liu, Randy Hoback for Stephen Woodworth and Manon Perreault for François Choquette.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Penny Becklumb, Analyst ; Tim Williams, Analyst.

Witnesses: Assembly of First Nations: Roger Jones, Senior Strategist; William David, Senior Policy Analyst, Environmental Stewardship. Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers: David Collyer, President. Mining Association of Canada: Pierre Gratton, President and Chief Executive Officer; Justyna Laurie-Lean, Vice-President, Environment and Health. James Bay Advisory Committee on the Environment: Chantal Otter Tétreault, Member, Cree Regional Authority; Graeme Morin, Environmental Analyst.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, October 19, 2011, the Committee resumed its statutory review of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act.

Roger Jones, David Collyer, Chantal Otter Tétreault and Pierre Gratton made statements and, with Graeme Morin and Justyna Laurie-Lean, answered questions.

At 1:02 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
