The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 268, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Larry Miller, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Malcolm Allen, Alex Atamanenko, Randy Hoback, Ben Lobb, Larry Miller, LaVar Payne, Francine Raynault, Jean Rousseau, Brian Storseth, Frank Valeriote and Bob Zimmer.

 

Acting Members present: Rod Bruinooge for Pierre Lemieux.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Agriculture and Agri-Food: Steve Tierney, Assistant Deputy Minister, Market and Industry Services Branch; Susie Miller, Director General, Food Value Chain Bureau, Market and Industry Services Branch. Canadian Food Inspection Agency: Paul Mayers, Associate Vice-President, Programs; Barbara Jordan, Associate Vice-President, Operations.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motions adopted by the Committee on Monday, February 13, 2012, the Committee resumed its study of the food supply chain (overview of the subject).
 

Steve Tierney made a statement and, with Susie Miller, answered questions.

 

At 4:09 p.m., Malcolm Allen took the Chair.

 

At 4:14 p.m., Larry Miller took the Chair.

 

At 4:23 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:24 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Paul Mayers made a statement and, with Barbara Jordan, answered questions.

 

At 5:17 p.m., by unanimous consent and pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the Committee continue to sit.

 

At 5:20 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
