The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 268, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Larry Miller, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Malcolm Allen, Alex Atamanenko, Pierre Lemieux, Ben Lobb, Larry Miller, LaVar Payne, Francine Raynault, Jean Rousseau, Brian Storseth, Frank Valeriote and Bob Zimmer.

 

Acting Members present: Joe Daniel for Randy Hoback, Joe Daniel for Ben Lobb, Brian Jean for Randy Hoback, Kevin Sorenson for Brian Storseth and Brad Trost for Brian Storseth.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge, Analyst; Khamla Heminthavong, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Cattlemen's Association: Travis Toews, President; Ryder Lee, Manager, Federal Provincial Relations. Canadian Federation of Agriculture: Humphrey Banack, Second Vice-President. National Farmers Union: Kevin Wipf, Executive Director. Atlantic Grains Council: Allan Ling, Chairman; Michael Delaney, Member.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, September 29, 2011, the Committee resumed its study on Growing Forward 2 (Business Risk Management Programs).
 

Allan Ling and Michael Delaney, by videoconference from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island made statements and answered questions.

 

Travis Toews, Humphrey Banack and Kevin Wipf made statements and answered questions.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee pursue its study of Growing Forward 2 with the theme of "Marketing and Trade" followed by "Meeting Consumer Demands".

 

At 5:19 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
