The Subcommittee on Committee Budgets of the Liaison Committee met in camera at 1:05 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Dean Allison, James Bezan, Larry Miller, Hon. Shawn Murphy, Joe Preston, Paul Szabo and Merv Tweed.

 

Other Members present: Claude DeBellefeuille, Hon. Hedy Fry and David Tilson.

 

In attendance: House of Commons: Karen Thriepland, Coordinator, Logistics Services; Gilles Larocque, Senior Financial Advisor. Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration: Andrew Bartholomew Chaplin, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on the Status of Women: Danielle Bélisle, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities: Bonnie Charron, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food: Isabelle Duford, Clerk of the Committee. Library of Parliament: Kristen Douglas, Analyst.

 

The Clerk gave a presentation of the financial status of the global envelope for committee activities.

 
The Subcommittee commenced the consideration of matters related to Subcommittee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the request for reimbursement presented by David Tilson regarding a witness who submitted his expense claim to the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration after the 60-day deadline be concurred in.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 107(1), the Subcommittee proceeded to its study on budget submissions.
 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food be granted a travel budget of $86,969 to travel to Quebec City and Portneuf, Quebec; Kentville, Nova Scotia; Sussex, New Brunswick and Stanley Bridge, Kensington and Borden-Carleton, Prince Edward Island for its study on young farmers and the future of farming, in the Spring of 2010.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities be granted a travel budget of $17,664 to travel to La Pocatière, Quebec, in relation to its study on high speed rail in Canada, in the Spring of 2010.

 

At 2:00 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
