The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 8-53, 131 Queen St., the Chair, the Hon. Michael D. Chong, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Charlie Angus, Scott Armstrong, Hon. Michael D. Chong, Bonnie Crombie, Dean Del Mastro, Royal Galipeau, Carole Lavallée, Roger Pomerleau, Blake Richards and Scott Simms.

 

Acting Members present: Francis Scarpaleggia for Pablo Rodriguez and Alice Wong for Patrick Brown.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Michael Dewing, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Shaw Communications Inc.: Peter Bissonnette, President; Michael Ferras, Vice-President, Regulatory Affairs; Ken Stein, Senior Vice-President, Corporate and Regulatory Affairs; Charlotte Bell, Vice-President, Regulatory and Government Affairs, Shaw Media. Canadian Association of Community Television Users and Stations (CACTUS): Catherine Edwards, Spokesperson. Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, October 21, 2010, the Committee resumed its study of the impacts of private television ownership changes and the move towards new viewing platforms.
 

Peter Bissonnette, Ken Stein and Charlotte Bell made statements and with Michael Ferras, answered questions.

 

At 4:29 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:34 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Catherine Edwards, Beverley Milligan, Yves Séguin and Paul Temple made statements and, with Luc Perreault, answered questions.

 

At 5:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
