The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met at 9:12 a.m. this day, in the Yarmouth Room, Rodd Grand Yarmouth Hotel, Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, the Chair, Rodney Weston, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Mike Allen, Scott Andrews, Raynald Blais, Hon. Gerry Byrne, Blaine Calkins, Randy Kamp, Yvon Lévesque, Hon. Lawrence MacAulay, Peter Stoffer, John Weston and Rodney Weston.

 

Associate Members present: Greg Kerr.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: François Côté, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Town of Yarmouth: Philip Mooney, Mayor. Clearwater Seafoods Limited Partnership: Colin MacDonald, Chief Executive Officer. LFA 34 Management Board: Ashton Spinney, Chair. As an individual: Robert Hines. Eastern Shore Fishermen's Protective Association: Norma Richardson, President; Nellie Baker Stevens, Coordinator.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 12, 2009, the Committee resumed its study of the Atlantic lobster fishery.
 

Philip Mooney made a statement.

 

Colin MacDonald made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 10:08 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:14 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

At 10:14 a.m., Lawrence MacAulay took the Chair.

 

At 10:28 a.m., Rodney Weston took the Chair.

 

Ashton Spinney and Robert Hines made statements and answered questions.

 

At 11:04 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:15 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Norma Richardson made a statement and, with Nellie Baker Stevens, answered questions.

 

At 12:04 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
