The House resumed consideration of the motion of Mr. Flaherty (Minister of Finance), seconded by Mr. Van Loan (Leader of the Government in the House of Commons and Minister for Democratic Reform), — That Bill C-50, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on February 26, 2008 and to enact provisions to preserve the fiscal plan set out in that budget, be now read a third time and do pass;

By unanimous consent, it was ordered, — That, notwithstanding any Standing Order or usual practice of the House, the deferred recorded divisions on the motion for second reading of Bill C-393, An Act to amend the Criminal Code and the Corrections and Conditional Release Act (punishment and hearing), on report stage motions, the motion for concurrence at report stage and the motion for third reading of Bill C-377, An Act to ensure Canada assumes its responsibilities in preventing dangerous climate change, and on the motion for second reading of Bill C-490, An Act to amend the Old Age Security Act (application for supplement, retroactive payments and other amendments), currently scheduled to be held immediately before the time provided for Private Members' Business on June 4, 2008, be held instead at 3:00 p.m. on June 4, 2008.


By unanimous consent, it was ordered, — That, notwithstanding any Standing Order, for the consideration of the supply period ending June 23, 2008, Standing Order 81(18)(c) shall be amended by replacing the word “10:00 p.m.” with the word “7:30 p.m.”, provided that no member shall speak for longer than 10 minutes, after which a period not exceeding 5 minutes shall be made available, if required, to allow Members to ask questions and comment briefly on matters relevant to the speech and to allow responses thereto.
