The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met at 1:06 p.m. this day, in the Baudelaire-Lafontaine Room, Sir Wilfrid Auberge Sainte-Foy, Quebec city, Québec, the Chair, Norman Doyle, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Robert Carrier, Norman Doyle, Thierry St-Cyr and Hon. Andrew Telegdi.

 

Acting Members present: Raymonde Folco for Hon. Maurizio Bevilacqua.

 

Associate Members present: Steven Blaney.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Penny Becklumb, Analyst; Sandra Elgersma, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: As an individual: Eugénie Depatie-Pelletier, Research Associate, Canada Research Chair on International Law of Migration, University of Montreal. Quebec Human Rights and Youth Rights Commission: Marc-André Dowd, Vice-President; Carole Fiset, Human Rights Educator, Education and Cooperation Department. Fédération des chambres de commerce du Québec: Yvon Boudreau, Representative, Consultant. As an individual: Prashant Ajmera. Canadian Society of Immigration Practitioners: Mireille Gauthier, Chief Executive Officer, Montreal.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, November 22, 2007, the Committee resumed its study of undocumented and temporary foreign workers.
 

Eugénie Depatie-Pelletier made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 2:03 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 2:06 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Marc-André Dowd and Yvon Boudreau made statements and, with Carole Fiset, answered questions.

 

At 3:05 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 3:10 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, December 11, 2007, the Committee resumed its study of Immigration Consultants.
 

Prashant Ajmera and Mireille Gauthier made statements and answered questions.

 

At 4:07 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
