The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met at 11:05 a.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Chair, Gerald Keddy, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Gérard Asselin, Raynald Blais, Hon. Gerry Byrne, Rodger Cuzner, Randy Kamp, Gerald Keddy, James Lunney, Hon. Lawrence MacAulay, Bill Matthews and Peter Stoffer.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: François Côté, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Fisheries and Oceans: Lucie McClung, Senior Associate Deputy Minister; Wendy Watson-Wright, Assistant Deputy Minister, Science Sector; Savi Narayanan, Director General, Oceans Science and Canadian Hydrographic Service and Dominion Hydrographer; Serge Labonté, Senior Director General. World Wildlife Fund Canada: Robert Rangeley, Vice-President, Atlantic Region.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on November 28, the Committee commenced its study of the Science Renewal Initiative of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans
 

Wendy Watson-Wright made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 12:02 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:07 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on November 28 2006, the Committee commenced its study of Marine Conservation Issues on the East Coast.
 

Robert Rangeley made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 1:02 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
