The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met in a televised session at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C Centre Block, the Chair, Leon Benoit, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Leon Benoit, Marcel Gagnon, Marc Godbout, Guy Lauzon, Diane Marleau, Pat Martin, Joe Preston and Paul Szabo.

 

Acting Members present: Gary Carr for Ken Boshcoff, Pierre Poilievre for Randy White, Yasmin Ratansi for Francis Scarpaleggia and Benoît Sauvageau for Louise Thibault.

 

Associate Members present: Hon. Walt Lastewka.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Philippe Le Goff, Analyst; Tara Gray, Analyst.

 

Appearing: Hon. Scott Brison, Minister of Public Works and Government Services.

 

Witnesses: Department of Public Works and Government Services: Lysanne Gauvin, Assistant Deputy Minister and Senior Financial Officer, Finance, Accounting, Banking and Compensation Branch; François Guimont, Associate Deputy Minister; David Marshall, Deputy Minister; Tim McGrath, Executive Director, Real Property Branch; Ellen Stensholt, Senior General Counsel, Legal Services Branch.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on May 3, 2005, the Committee commenced its examination of the leasing agreement between the Federal Government and Alexis Nihon REIT for the building located at 550 de la Cité Blvd, in the City of Gatineau.
 

The Minister made a statement and, with Tim McGrath, David Marshall and Ellen Stensholt, answered questions.

 
At 5:33 p.m., the Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That Senator Paul Massicotte, President and Chief Executive Officer of Alexis Nihon REIT be invited to appear, in relation to the leasing agreement between the Federal Government and Alexis Nihon REIT for the building located at 550 de la Cité Blvd, in the City of Gatineau.

 

At 5:35 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
