The Standing Committee on Finance met in a televised session at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Maurizio Bevilacqua, presiding.

Member(s) of the Committee present: Sue Barnes, Carolyn Bennett, Maurizio Bevilacqua, Scott Brison, Roy Cullen, Ken Epp, Jason Kenney, Sophia Leung, Shawn Murphy, Lorne Nystrom and Gary Pillitteri.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Marc-André Pigeon, Research Officer.

Witness(es): From the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association Inc.: Mark R. Daniels, President; James Witol, Vice President, Taxation and Research. From the Canadian Dental Association: Dr. George Sweetnam, President – Elect; Andrew Jones, Director Corporate and Government Relations. From the Canadian Abortion Rights Action League: Marilyn M. Wilson, Executive Director. From the Canadian Petroleum Products Institute: Bill Simpkins, Vice-President, Government Relations. From the Canadian Printing Industries Association: Pierre Boucher, President; Jeff Ekstein, Chairman of CPIA'S Government Affairs Committee. From Celeris Aerospace Canada Inc.: Steve Hall, President.

Pursuant to Standing Order 83.1, the Committee continued its Pre-Budget Consultations.

Mark R. Daniels, Dr. Greg Sweetnam, Marilyn M. Wilson, Bill Simpkins, Pierre Boucher, Jeff Ekstein and Steve Hall made opening statements and, with the other witness, answered questions.

At 5:00 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
