(Meeting No. 66)

MONDAY, MAY 25, 1998

The Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs met at 3:37 o’clock p.m., this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Robert Bertrand, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Robert Bertrand, Hec Clouthier, Peter Goldring, Judi Longfield, John O’Reilly, David Pratt, John Richardson and Pierrette Venne.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Wolf Koerner and Michel Rossignol, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Department of National Defence: Brig.-Gen. Isidore Popowych, Director General, Personnel Support Agency; Jim Jamieson, Director, Military Family Support, Canadian Forces Personnel Support Agency; Mr. Dave Roberts, President, SISIP; Mr. Greg Pearson, Chief Programs Officer; Mr. Michel Lemoine, President, CANEX; Ms. Laurie Jackson, Executive Director, Military Family Resource Centre, Meaford.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of a Review of the Social and Economic Challenges Facing Members of the Canadian Forces -- Military Family Support Programs.

Brig.-Gen. Isidore Popowich and Jim Jamieson made opening statements and, with the witnesses, answered questions.

At 5:25 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
