Presenting Reports from Committees

Ms. Marleau (Sudbury), from the Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates, presented the Third Report of the Committee, "The Right Pay for Valuable Employees". — Sessional Paper No. 8510-392-112.

Pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee requested that the government table a comprehensive response.

A copy of the relevant Minutes of Proceedings (Meeting Nos. 8 and 10) was tabled.


Mr. Rajotte (Edmonton—Leduc), from the Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology, presented the First Report of the Committee (sale of MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (MDA) including the RADARSAT-2 satellite). — Sessional Paper No. 8510-392-113.

Introduction of Private Members' Bills

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Laforest (Saint-Maurice—Champlain), seconded by Mrs. Mourani (Ahuntsic), Bill C-540, An Act to amend the Broadcasting Act and the Telecommunications Act (broadcasting and telecommunications policies), was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.


Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Ms. Wasylycia-Leis (Winnipeg North), seconded by Ms. Savoie (Victoria), Bill C-541, An Act to amend the Hazardous Products Act (noise limit for children’s products), was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.


Presenting Petitions

Pursuant to Standing Order 36, petitions certified correct by the Clerk of Petitions were presented as follows:

— by Mrs. Lavallée (Saint-Bruno—Saint-Hubert), five concerning the Canada Labour Code (Nos. 392-0623 to 392-0627);

Pursuant to Standing Order 39(7), Mr. Lukiwski (Parliamentary Secretary to the Leader of the Government in the House of Commons and Minister for Democratic Reform) presented the return to the following question made into an Order for Return:

The House resumed consideration at report stage of Bill C-33, An Act to amend the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999, as reported by the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food with amendments;

And of Motion No. 2.

Motion No. 2 of Mr. Bevington (Western Arctic), seconded by Mr. Julian (Burnaby—New Westminster), — That Bill C-33, in Clause 2, be amended by replacing line 13 on page 3 with the following:

“Canada, including a review of the progress made in the preparation and implementation of the regulations referred to in subsection 140(1), should be undertaken by such commit-”
