2.90 Defence Construction Canada should be involved earlier in the assessment of planned security requirements to ensure that these requirements are consistent with the eventual use of the facility and can be implemented appropriately.

Agreed. Defence Construction Canada will continue to act in a proactive manner when dealing with security in contracting. Defence Construction Canada will work closely with National Defence to ensure that security requirements are clearly defined and subsequently implemented appropriately.

Defence Construction Canada will continue to contribute to the security of Canada by ensuring compliance with the Policy on Government Security by ensuring that all security requirements identified by National Defence are managed during the procurement and implementation stages of each contract, with the goal of protecting sensitive or classified information and assets. This action is on-going.

National Defence and Defence Construction Canada continue to work together in carrying out joint planning and information sharing and joint training has been established for National Defence and Defence Construction Canada staff on processes such as industrial security procedures. This action is on-going.
